The story

Founded in 1984 at La Grande-Motte by Gérard Danson, Outremer has only ever built one kind of boat: fast, seaworthy catamarans meant to cross oceans with a couple aboard. Narrow hulls, daggerboards, tiller options and obsessive weight control run against the volume-first tide — and give resale values the rest of the industry watches with envy.

Part of the Grand Large Yachting group since the late 2000s, the yard produces a few dozen boats a year, most destined for circumnavigation programmes; owner training weeks are part of the sale. The VPLP-drawn 55 of 2019 and its successors broadened the interiors without surrendering the performance brief. In a market of floating apartments, Outremer remains the reference for sailors who count miles per day.
