Leopard 42

The Leopard 42 arrived in November 2020 as a compression of what Robertson and Caine had learned on the 40 and the 50, not as the replacement of any single model. Simonis Voogd worked inside charter arithmetic: foam-cored infused hulls under a one-piece cabinhouse, an overlapping genoa rather than a self-tacker, and a helm folded into the starboard coachroof with a lounge deck reached by a port staircase. The forward cockpit that defined the 45 is gone here, traded for a sunbed over a cavernous locker — the honest admission that a 12.7-metre platform cannot carry every Leopard signature. It sails to its numbers rather than beyond them: around nine knots in a 25-knot gust, six to eight the rest of the time, and the companionway steps into the hulls are steep enough to punish knees in a seaway. Sold new near €539,000 and duplicated across the Moorings 4200 and Sunsail 424 fleets, it resells quickly, ex-charter hulls setting the floor.
