Our take
The SD line is Sanlorenzo's answer to a specific question: what if a semi-displacement yacht stopped pretending to be fast? At 29 metres the SD96 cruises at 16 knots rather than 25, and spends the fuel it saves on range, silence and interior volume. Zuccon's exterior deliberately quotes the 1930s transatlantic liners — a long, low profile with a raked bow and a proper enclosed wheelhouse rather than the wall of glass the segment favours. Inside, Patricia Urquiola brought a domestic, textile-led vocabulary that reads as a house rather than a hotel lobby, and which broke sharply with Italian superyacht convention when it launched. Four to five guest cabins, five crew, and a beach club opening on three sides at the stern. This is a boat for owners who use the yacht at anchor for weeks at a time, not for those who measure a passage in hours saved.
