Our take
The Catspace replaced the Bali 4.0 in 2020 and has been the entry point to the range ever since — the smallest Bali to move the helm up onto a flybridge. Its hulls are not by Xavier Faÿ but by Lasta Design Studio, the only exception in the series, working to a plain brief: fit four cabins and four heads into 11.71 metres of hull alongside the forward cockpit and the solid deck. Hence very full sections and a 6.55 m beam, wide for a forty-footer. The bill lands on payload: 9.4 tonnes light against 12.8 maximum leaves about three and a half tonnes for eight people, water, tender and stores, and the boat sits down on its chines once loaded. With 75 m² of standard sail and two 19 hp engines it needs settled breeze to sail properly; below twelve knots true the engines take over. Programme: a family week aboard, and charter fleets in Greece and Croatia that also keep the used market liquid.
