Our take
Successor to the very successful 450, the Lagoon 46 is the pivot of the range: the smallest Lagoon with a true flybridge lounge, and the size at which a family can genuinely live aboard for a season. VPLP kept the aft-stepped rig and self-tacking jib, moved weight out of the ends and gave the bows more fine-run than the 450 ever had; the boat remains a cruiser, but a less apologetic one under sail. The deck plan is the argument — three distinct social zones (cockpit, foredeck lounge, flybridge) that absorb eight people without friction, served by wide side decks and a protected helm. Below, the owner version turns the starboard hull into a genuine apartment. Charter fleets order it in quantity, which anchors residual values but also means used buyers must sort tired examples from private ones. Within the 45-foot class it is the volume benchmark its rivals define themselves against.
Worth noting
- True flybridge lounge, rare at this length
- Three separate living zones on deck
- Owner version with full starboard-hull suite
- Backbone of premium charter fleets worldwide
