Bali 4.8

The Bali 4.8 topped the 4.x series from 2020 until it left the catalogue in 2025, sitting between the 4.6 and the 5.4. Xavier Faÿ's brief was mostly arithmetic: fit a full flybridge, a rigid foredeck and up to six cabins into 14.28 metres of hull without destroying the payload. The numbers work on paper — 14.8 tonnes light against 22.1 loaded — but the charter build, with six heads and a thousand litres each of fuel and water, spends that margin quickly. Windage is the second bill. High topsides, a flybridge and a solid deck mean you anticipate when motoring across a breeze, and accept poor angles upwind; the 126 m² standard rig is sized for comfort, not for pointing. The real programme is anchoring, Mediterranean and Caribbean charter, downwind trade-wind passages. Used supply is dominated by ex-charter five- and six-cabin boats, and the three-cabin owner versions are scarce enough to command a clear premium.
