Our take
The Aura 51 replaced the Saba 50 in 2022 and became the template for what followed: this is the hull on which Fountaine Pajot introduced its Smart Electric programme, pairing two 25 kW motors with a lithium bank, close to 2 kW of coachroof-integrated panels, hydrogeneration under sail and a backup generator. Berret-Racoupeau went for beam, 8.08 m of it, and a full flybridge without raising the centre of gravity further than the platform could carry; the hull shape stays conservative and the boat holds eight knots under power when loaded. This is not a performance multihull. At 18 tonnes light it takes a settled breeze before the polars become interesting, and owners coming from a lighter cat notice it upwind. The six-cabin version is aimed squarely at charter. On the used market Smart Electric boats trade above the diesels, though a buyer should have the battery bank surveyed before committing.
